Obsidian

Obsidian was an important resource for Indigenous communities for thousands of years. The high proportion of obsidian artifacts excavated from the Junction Site (DkPi-2) provides an unparalleled opportunity to examine intra site temporal and spatial changes in obsidian source use. This paper will present a comprehensive analysis and synthesis of the obsidian recovered from various excavations since the sites initial recording by archaeologists 55 years ago. Obsidian source types are placed within spatial, temporal and cultural contexts to extrapolate patterns of obsidian source use.
