Have something interesting to share with our community? The CAA Board of Directors invites members to submit short research notes to Katherine Cook (katherine.cook@umontreal.ca).
We invite nominations for the 2021 CAA awards. All submissions from 2020 will be automatically entered into the 2021 competition. You can find award criteria and instructions on how to submit a nomination here: https://canadianarchaeology.com/caa/about/awards. We will announce the award winners at the 2021 virtual conference and celebrate the awards in Edmonton in 2022. Submission deadlines are as follows:
Print vs. electronic: 70% of respondents already receive the journal electronically or would prefer to switch to electronic than pay extra for the print version. The remaining 30% would be willing to pay an additional fee for the print version, though many of them commented that they understand that the print version may be unsustainable.
The CAA Board of Directors is excited to announce a new partnership between the Canadian Archaeological Association and the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA). Find out more about ACRA here. This partnership allows CAA members to take advantage of ACRA training and professional development opportunities (annual conference, workshops and webinars) at the same rates as ACRA members. These new benefits will be especially valuable to CAA members in the cultural resource management sector.
In 2021 the CAA would like to host a virtual conference, throughout the month of May. This could include remote versions of paper and poster sessions, and interactive webinars, as well as the annual Board of Directors meeting and AGM.
We are looking for a volunteer to serve as conference chair on behalf of the CAA, and other volunteers to serve on the organizing committee.
