2026 Transportation Information
The 2026 Joint CAA/ASA Annual Conference will be held in Canmore, Alberta.
Canmore is a small tourist-oriented town located in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, about an hour and 20 minutes west of Calgary on the TransCanada Highway and may require some special travel logistics.
Air Travel
The closest airport is the Calgary International Airport (YYC).

Car Rental:
There are NO car rentals in Canmore, so if you want to rent a car, do so at the Airport or in Calgary.

Local Transport
Canmore has an excellent public transit system, including several free bus routes/free zones to see the area easily. For the “Roam Transit Canmore” check routes and fare information at Schedules & Routes - Roam Transit.
Canmore does not have Uber or other rideshare companies! There are independent taxi companies at reasonable rates. (Canmore Cabs, Three Sisters’ Taxis, 4 Aces Taxis, Timber Trail Taxis, and A1 Eh Taxis)
Visiting Banff National Park
Banff National Park is approximately 20 minutes west of Canmore. Roam Transit has a regular bus service between Banff and Canmore.
Important! If you choose to visit Banff, you will require a park pass, regardless of how you travel there. Roam Transit fees do not include a park pass. Visit the Parks Canada website for information on how to purchase a park pass: https://parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/visit/passer-passes.
Parking
Parking is available at the conference hotel for attendees at a reduced cost of $7.00/day.
Almost all of the parking areas in Canmore require payment. There is a free all day “overflow” parking lot behind the Elevation Place recreation centre and library (700 Railway Ave.), which is a 5 - 10-minute walk from the Canmore Coast Hotel and Conference Centre.
