The Department of Anthropology, Economics, and Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science at MacEwan University (Edmonton, AB) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Indigenous Archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.

MacEwan University is seeking a candidate with lived experiences grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. The successful candidate will hold (or be near completion of) a Ph.D. in Anthropology or Archaeology with expertise in Indigenous archaeology, ideally in Western Canada. They must demonstrate a primary commitment to undergraduate teaching, an ongoing research plan, and a history of ethical engagement with local communities. 

Preferred candidates will have post-secondary teaching experience that provides evidence of excellence or clear promise of excellence in teaching both junior and senior undergraduate-level courses, and they will demonstrate the ability to incorporate undergraduate students into their research program. In addition to teaching a range of courses in the classroom, the successful candidate will be involved in the organization and running of a regular field school.
