This is a unionized position at our North Vancouver campus. The position will begin May 2025.

For this academic year, the successful candidate will teach two sections of the undergraduate course ANTH 123: Introduction to Archaeology in-person during the Summer I term (May-June 2025). Each section has a maximum of 35 students each. Candidates with flexible schedules and available to teach in-person courses throughout future summer months will be prioritized. Additionally, candidates who are interested in developing a local field school program would be an asset.

The successful candidate will have the following teaching duties:

  • Participate in meetings, committees, and events at the program, department, faculty, and university levels.

What you’ll bring

Preference will be given to candidates with (or very near completion of) a PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related discipline. Candidates with a Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related discipline and demonstrated excellence in teaching will be considered. The successful candidate will bring expertise in either Archaeology or Biological Anthropology, although they must be comfortable teaching introductory level courses in both subdisciplines. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments and/or awards, the teaching portfolio, and for short-listed candidates, outstanding performance during their teaching demonstration and strong references from two people who have previously supervised their work.
