Cover image: The cover image is from Jeffries Wyman's 1868 article, “An Account of Some of the Kjoekkenmoeddings, or Shell-Heaps in Maine and Massachusetts” (The American Naturalist 1[11]:584). Wyman was an anatomist and the first Director of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology at Harvard University. The term Kjoekkenmoedding comes from the designation for shell-heaps used by Danish prehistorians who identified similar features and provided the inspiration for Wyman's research.
