Job Posting: Material Culture Analyst in Historical Archaeology

Timmins Martelle Heritage Consultants Inc. is accepting resumes for the position of Material Culture Analyst. This is a full time position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and catalogue 19th-century artifacts
  • Analyse artifact assemblages
  • Write summaries for reports
  • Artifact photography
  • Research

Secondary Roles:

  • Other lab duties
  • Field work

Qualifications:

  • A Masters of Arts (MA) or Science (MSc) in archaeology/anthropology
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience identifying and working with 19th-century material culture
  • Proficiency with the analysis of historical artifacts
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Experience in Ontario and familiarity with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport’s Standards & Guidelines (2011) is an asset. Familiarity with the Parks Canada cataloguing system is an asset.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented private sector environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines while creating a quality product are necessary.
