This year’s theme focuses on the dynamic relationship between people and the land in the Sea to Sky region. We are inviting proposals that explore community stewardship, ecological restoration, cultural teachings, industrial legacies, and collaborative approaches to caring for heritage places.

The McMaster University Department of Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026. They are looking for a candidate whose theoretical approaches, methods and area of research complement current faculty strengths, with preferred skill sets being archaeological science, with preference, but not limited to palaeoethnobotany, and/or zooarchaeology. While the geographical area of specialization is open, preference may be given to those who work in the archaeology of North America, not least the Eastern North America/Great Lakes region. They invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026.

Three-Year, Limited Term, Faculty Position in Archaeology Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Social Science Western University
Building on our strengths in Archaeology and Biological Anthropology, the Department of Anthropology at Western University invites applications for a three-year limited-term (potentially renewable) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective January 1 2026, or as negotiated. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Bodo Archaeological Site & Centre has adult (age 15+) dig "camps" from June 27–29, July 8–12 that are open for public/community participation. Cost per day is $125.
They also offer artifact cataloguing that the public can participate with, July 23–27 and Aug 5–8 (cost $50/day).
We're looking for a Geographic Information Systems Officer (GIS) to join our Culture and Heritage team in Yellowknife. As the GIS Officer, you will be required to use GIS and database management systems to manage the NWT Archaeological Sites Database, which is the authoritative database of all recorded archaeological sites in the NWT (approximately 7,000 records).
