Dr. Lisa Rankin has been active in archaeology for over 35 years, working in South America, the American Southwest, and across Canada. Dr. Rankin has spent the past 23 years conducting research in Labrador, not only making incredible contributions to our understanding of Labrador history, but also to broader processes of colonialism, globalization, and Indigenous sovereignty. Her work has led to the development of strong collaborative projects in Labrador, numerous peer-reviewed publications, and to the obtention of considerable research grants (which have notably been used to support and train Labrador Inuit youth alongside her numerous students). In addition to her duties as a professor, Dr. Rankin has also held important administrative roles at Memorial University and has served as the President of the Canadian Archaeological Association (2014–2016).
