Holly Martelle, Michael McClelland, Tatum Taylor, and John Loric (ptimmins@tmhc.ca) (nominated by Josh Dent) for The Ward Uncovered: The Archaeology of Everyday Life (2018; https://chbooks.com/Books/T/The-Ward-Uncovered2). This edited volume, published by Coach House Books, emerged from the 2015 TMHC Armoury Street Block excavation in the heart of downtown Toronto on one of the first distinctly multicultural and working-class urban neighbourhoods in the province. It uses the material record as a departure point for individual vignettes, situating objects/belongings in much broader social and cultural contexts in an easily digestible and accessible/inexpensive format.
