Student Meet n Greet

Student networking event where students can meet and buddy up for a better conference experience. Discuss the trials and tribulations of attending and presenting at conferences, and what your student journey has been like!

RAM Reception

The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) welcomes CAA conference delegates to an evening of conversation and community-building. RAM is the largest museum in western Canada and among the leading museums in the country. Located in downtown Edmonton, the museum shares stories and objects relating to the histories and contemporary cultures of people in Alberta. It also preserves and displays objects and specimens related to our natural environments and landscapes. Delegates are invited to explore the galleries, including the Human History Hall, the Children’s Gallery, the Bug Gallery, and the Natural History Hall. There are 2.5 million uniquely Albertan stories within the new 419,000 square foot facility, about half of the Human History Hall dedicated to Indigenous stories.


Indigenous Archaeology Luncheon

Indigenous conference attendees (including practicing Indigenous archaeologists, Indigenous community partners, Indigenous knowledge holders/Elders, Indigenous students, etc.) are invited to gather to build community and discuss issues unique to the engagement of Indigenous peoples in archaeology.

Consulting archaeologists (and those that love them or want to be them, aka colleagues and students) are invited to celebrate the contribution that industry-driven impact assessments have given to the archaeological record. Thousands of archaeology sites have been recorded as a result of fieldwork in Alberta alone, with hundreds mitigated. Join this community and raise a glass (or two)!
