Use Wear Analysis of Pre-Mazama Lithics from Banff National Park

Conference Paper

Abstract

Use wear studies are now becoming an important part of the archaeological analysis of stone tools. By using pre-Mazarna lithic materials from three sites within Banff National Park, this paper will demonstrate the application of models in depicting use wear traces, present the study's findings and its implication on present interpretation of tool usage, and argue for the incorporation of both low and high power techniques in practical lithic studies.
