Lethbridge Centre Speaker Series

2018/2019 Speaker Series:

Invited speakers present their research and knowledge to our members at the Community Room in the Lethbridge Public Library on the first Tuesday of every month unless otherwise noted.  Topics range from local archaeological projects to sites and research carried out across the globe. The meetings start at 6:30 pm with a social gathering and snacks. The business meeting and guest speaker begins at 7:00 pm.

September 4: No meeting

October 2: Welcome Back Meet and Greet! Plus speaker Bruce Shepard (President of the Southeastern ASA Centre in Medicine Hat). The Long, Slow Decline of the Bison.

November 13: Kelsey Pennanen (University of Calgary). Heritage for All, Forever: Digital Preservation and Public Outreach.

December 3 (Monday), Banquet at the New Dynasty ($25 per member / students free): Kevin Black Plume and Bill Perry (Parks Canada). Post-Fire Assessment of Waterton Lakes National Park, Preliminary Discoveries.

January 15:  Alyssa Hamza (Arrow Archaeology). Our Provincial Capital: A Review of Select Sites.

February 5: Meg Berry, Aaron Domes, Citlalmina David, Mackenzie Laliberte, Laura Sonnenberg, Ria Nicholson and Diane Rossetti (Alberta Parks and the University of Lethbridge). Looking back and looking forward at Writing on Stone/ Áísínai’pi.

March 5:  Gabriel Yanicki (Canadian Museum of History). At the Southern Funnel: Ice-Free Corridor Research at Wally's Beach.  NOTE: This meeting is in room PE261, on the U of L Campus.  We will play the video-taped recording of Dr. Yanicki's talk on March 12 in the library.
