Bodo Centre Activities
Bodo Archaeological Centre hosted the 2nd Annual Archaeology week during the week of June 25 to July 1, 2012.
Events during this weeklong celebration will emphasize the importance of studying, learning about, and protecting First Nations and archaeological history. A variety of archaeology-based educational opportunities, workshops, tours, and guest lectures will be offered to the public.
Tuesday June 26, 6:30 to 9:30 pm
A guided field trip to the Treaty 6 signing locations and the historic North West Mounted Police Post at Sounding Lake. Explore the First Nations and European history of east-central Alberta in the Bodo tour van. Please meet at the Bodo Archaeological Centre at 6:15 pm.
Wednesday, June 27, 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Don Hanna of Lifeways of Canada Limited will present on the newely discovered prehistoric pebble chert quarring in the Misty Hills, located south and west of Bodo.
Thurdsay, June 28, 6:30 - 9:30 pm
Kids Night! Entertaining and educational archaeological-related activities for kids. Site tours and mock excavation opportunities, face painting, traditional crafts, artifact stations and more!
Sunday July 1, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
11th Annual Bodo Open House at the Bodo Archaeological Centre. Guided tours of the site and the interpretative centre and a number of display and demonstrations will be organized.
