Registration is closed for this event

Day Trip – The Petroforms of Manitoba

Departure 9 a.m.             Return 5 p.m.

En route to Bannock Point (EaKv-3), a significant teaching and healing petroform site in Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba archaeologists will review the culture history of the Red River Valley and “eastman” region. Participants will stop for an early luncheon at the Otter Falls Resort before spending the afternoon amongst the rock alignments, known as petroforms, scattered throughout the granite outcrops of Bannock Point. Aligned in the shapes of humans, snakes, turtles, and other forms, these petroforms serve as teaching places, doorways to other worlds, and physical reminders of the instructions given to the Anishinaabe and other First Nations people by the spirits. The Bannock Point tour is approximately 1.5 hours long with some additional time allotted to independently explore. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, and bring a hat, sunglasses, sturdy/protective footwear.

Tour Cost: $65.00 (includes lunch)
Limit 53 spots.
