Archaeological investigations in the lakes district of extreme north-central Wisconsin from 1965 through 1968 have disclosed evidence of at least two Late Palaeo-Indian and two Archaic manifestations. Although several significant distinctions can be pointed out to exist between these various phases, general similarities in basic lithic technology suggest that there are strong relationships to the north and to the northeast in the general Upper Great Lakes - Laurentian Shield area.
