CAA Passes Motions on Important Additions to the CAA Principles of Ethical Conduct

At the 2018 Annual Meeting, CAA members voted to accept the following motions, concerning the UNDRIP and TRC Calls to Action and the presentation of human remain in CAA media:

The CAA requires authors to obtain documented permission from descendant community(s) to present human remains in any media or form. Beyond genetics, descendant communities are defined here by their historical, cultural and symbolic associations to places they consider ancestral.

The CAA endorses the Statement on UNDRIP and TRC Calls to Action and adds them to the CAA’s Principles of Ethical Conduct.
