Factors responsible for polish on flint woodworking tools

Woodworking can produce a distinctive polish on the working edge of a stone tool. However the amount of polish varies according to the type of wood modified. Controlled tool-use experiments are used to delineate the chemical and physical properties of wood which cause this differential polish.
