This paper describes preliminary conservation research being undertaken at Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park in southeastern Alberta, one of the most outstanding rock art locales in North America. Conservation research is being directed in four main problem areas: 1. Detailed inventory; 2. Pictograph deterioration; 3. Stereophotogrammetric monitoring of petroglyph erosion; and 4. Macro-and micro-mechanical erosion processes. Preliminary results, key problems, and future research directions are discussed.</style>
</record></records></xml>
